Urgh, this is the tricky bit! Pricing is really difficult, especially when your product is mostly a combination of time and experience, both of which are hard to put a value on!
But (and its a reasonably sized but) there are overheads, like photoshop subscriptions, the eye watering cost of a good camera and lenses, other bits and bobs, like lights, backdrops, props, as well as all the "usual" overheads of a small business...
Quite a few sites suggest that you don't publicise your prices, because of competition, but as a customer, particularly in these economic times when planning is key, I really like to know what to expect when I contact a business, so would be less likely to even call, let alone book with someone who didn't have a price on their site. So here we are! My prices are under the heading "prices, packages and services" along the top bar.
It's also worth mentioning that quite a lot of being a photographer is not being behind the camera; there are consultations, canvassing, a quite frankly ridiculous amount of time spent creating and posting content for social media, and of course for every hour of shooting, there is at least two hours of editing.
